Dr. John Bock, DCN, RD, Clinical Director (He/Him)
Our Clinical Director, Dr. John Bock has more than 26 years of experience as a registered dietitian, clinician, and educator. He is a graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science and Dietetics. He completed his internship at the University of Pittsburgh and later received his Master of Science degree from Central Michigan University in 2003.
He completed his doctoral training in clinical nutrition at Rutgers University. Dr. Bock is also proud to be a head and neck cancer survivor, which he states was his greatest achievement and most enriching educational experience.
Dr. Bock has initiated and implemented specialty nutrition-focused programs for gastrointestinal disorders, surgical oncology, women’s health, congestive heart failure, lipid management, bariatric surgery, and diabetes in a variety of clinical settings. He has been successful with developing an individualized plan of care for patients with irritable bowel syndrome and other complex gastrointestinal disorders.
He completed his doctoral work in clinical nutrition focusing on gastrointestinal disorders, surgical nutrition and completed his clinical residency in surgical oncology at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Dr. Bock was the coordinator of critical care nutrition, as part of an intensive care team, using innovative techniques of nutrition support to assure patients received proper nutrition during their critical illness. He has prior clinical experience treating advanced kidney and liver disease patients, as part of the transplant team at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He has experience working with both cardiac rehab and dialysis patients providing education and counseling to promote essential lifestyle changes to improve patient’s quality of life with
Dr. Bock was the Coordinator of Bariatric Surgery and Critical Care Nutrition at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ. He was responsible for coordinating bariatric surgery patients through the pre- and postoperative process. He also provided medical nutrition therapy for both inpatient and outpatient bariatric clients to promote the best outcomes after surgery.
Throughout his career, Dr. Bock has been an author for both clinical and general interest publications on topics in nutrition. He also has extensive mentoring and teaching experience at Rutgers University, Drexel University, Sodexo Dietetic Internships and has lectured for numerous professional conferences throughout the country.
